Despite not very good snow conditions, I had a great trip due to good snow school, lodgings and the unique Japanese town.

Thanks Josh. I had a great trip. Unfortunately, the unpredicted poor snow conditions meant there wasn't much snow but i heard it was still better than Hakuba and Nowaza Onsen. As it was my first time on the slopes it didn't impact on me as much. I absolutely loved learning how to ski and I can't believe it's taken me this long to get to the slopes. I'm already planning a ski trip with friends to NZ :). Thanks for all your tips and advice. Myoko Kogen was a traditional Japanese village which as you know, was exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately, this did mean that overall, there were more couples and families at the resort and accommodation but I did get to know the staff and instructors so had various people to hang out with over my stay.
